Senator Reid and other members of Congress are scheming a way to pass the health care boondoggle while completely bypassing the American people.
A senior aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told CNSNews.com that it is ‘likely’ that Reid will use H.R. 1586—a bill passed by the House in March to impose a 90-percent tax on bonuses paid to employees of certain bailed-out financial institutions—as a ‘shell’ for enacting the final version of the Senate’s health care bill, which Reid is responsible for crafting.
Although the majority of Americans express satisfaction with their health insurance and oppose a government run plan, Reid plans to ram through this plan using sleight-of-hand tactics and never allow us to see the wording of the bill, even though the President promised that we would be able to read and comment on any legislation for at least seven days. It has been reported that on plan, that authored by Sen. Max Baucus, (D-MT) is so complicated that Baucus himself does not know how to put it on the web, and that do do so would take about two weeks. Included in the Baucus plan is a fine for failure to get insurance.
All U.S. citizens and legal residents would be required to obtain insurance coverage as of 2013. Existing plans would be grandfathered in. Exceptions would be made for people with religious objections and for the poor – those whose insurance premiums would cost more than 10 percent of an individual’s income. Undocumented immigrants would not be required to obtain coverage and would not receive assistance.
Families who violate the requirement would face fines up to $3,800. Individuals would get a $950 fine.
